A Creative resource for teachers - Professional Development Studio

Design Studio 09

Organisers: Azhar Mohamed, Massey University Auckland School of Design and Alastair Wells, Faculty of Education, Auckland University.

Objectives:
On the whole, this professional development training will be a practice-based process on ideation, development and rapid modelmaking that will require participations and sharing of knowledge in areas of design that includes idea generation, form building, presentation and 2-dimensional graphics.  It is aimed that all participants leave at the end of the course or shortly after the course with a portfolio of work that can be used for teaching purposes - perhaps in a suitable A3 format professionally bound inclusive of a CD with samples of designs and presentations.  This professional development training is an updating insight into good design process and is not meant as an in-depth on one specific skills, which can be offered at the next level.

21 teachers participated in this studio at the School of Design, Massey University, Albany. There were some amazing projects developed along with a visit from Gordon Harris and Apple Education. Tutors from Massey School of Design presented a variety of sessions that supported the teachers in their creative development and preparation of models. We were extremely lucky to have access to these Tutors as well as the Adobe expert from Australia who flew in especially for the event. In all a very successful 3 days. Here are some of the pics of the event.
